NURSING DIVISION
HOCKING COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT

TUBERCULOSIS (TB)

TB is a communicable disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis or the tubercle bacillus. It is spread primarily by tiny airborne particles (droplet nuclei) expelled by a person who has infectious TB. If another person inhales air containing these droplets, transmission may occur.

We are the TB control agency for Hocking County designated by the Hocking County Commissioners.

A TB skin test is free of charge to Hocking County residents.
If you are an out of county resident the fee is $10.

TB skin tests are offered everyday Monday-Friday except Thursdays.

Once the TB test is placed you will need to come back in 48-72 hours to get the skin test read. A follow-up skin test or chest x-ray may be necessary depending on the result of your first test. Financial assistance is available if more testing is needed.
